The writer and poet Gabriele D'Annunzio had a complex of buildings and cultural sites built here, including an amphitheatre, a priory, and an extraordinary military relic such as the ship "Puglia", hosted by the park. After the death of the poet, two museums dedicated to him were created, plus one to his great passion: cars.
Built in 1921 in Gardone Riviera by the will of Gabriele D'Annunzio, the Vittoriale became an authentic self-celebratory monument. The poet-soldier credited with the famous “Impresa Fiumana” elected this as his home until 1938, the year of his death.
